Aloha Picnic Day

Today we had some fun in the sun, or really clouds. It as an awesome day! We had our end of the year picnic. We decided to have a Hawaiian theme for all of kindergarten. A very special thank you goes out to all our amazing parents that helped make our picnic so special. We ate hot dogs, played with chalk and bubbles, did a potato sack race, and even limbo competition. It was a lot of fun. Thank you again to our wonderful parents for making this day so special and memorable.

Pond

We are learning about the ecosystem and focusing on the environment of a pond. Today we read the book In the Small Small Pond and identified things that are found in or around a pond. After they drew their favorite item, and phonetically spelled their item. I got this idea from my teammate and famous blogger of Chalk Talk: A Kindergarten Blog. You may also notice a picture of some ducks. I felt this was totally random but very inspirational for the day. When I left for school this morning I had some friends, a couple of ducks, in my front yard. They were just too cute, and very friendly.

Mars Needs Moms

This weekend is Mothers Day. I am so excited to spend the special day with my little one. She is now 4 months and so beautiful and healthy.

In honor of Mother's Day today we read the book Mars Needs Moms. I personally LOVED the book. It was too funny, and just plain cute. I will have to admit that I did get emotional during the story today, as a new mom.

Everyone did an amazing job on their writing. I think it is because we were writing about our favorite person, our Mom's. I only uploaded a few of them close up to see how precious they were when we wrote about how special our mom's are to us. I also included a recent picture of my little bundle of job, baby Kennedy. This is while we were visiting her Dad at his fire station.

Zoo Field Trip

This past Tuesday we our annual field trip to the Fort Worth Zoo. Thankfully the weather was beautiful because May has not been a warm month so far. We all had the BEST time!! A special thank you goes out to all my parent volunteers. They were so kind to provide us with their time. It truly was a fun day for all! I have a class picture from when we were boarding the bus. The other is what we did today in response to our trip to the Zoo. They were very excited to paint their favorite zoo animals.

Dallas Zoo Friends

Last week we were honored with a visit from some special friends. The Dallas Zoo presented us with some of their furry (and scaly) friends at the Zoo. We saw an owl, alligator, parrot, snake, a penguin, and even a slot. The 2-toed sloth was my personal favorite. Did you know they spend most of their lives upside down? They even give birth in that position!! WOW.

Welcome Baby Kennedy

As you may already know I was expecting my first child the beginning of the year this year. Baby Kennedy was due on January 9 but decided to make a week early appearance on January 2. She arrived at 7:20am at 8lbs 3ounces and 21 inches long. We are so blessed!

Everyone is healthy and doing well. I plan on returning on March 18.

Estimation Stations

We studied Estimation in math. All our little friends now know that estimation means a smart math guess. Everyone had a small cup, and filled it with a separate item (unifix cubes, counting bears, pom-poms). After we filled it we estimated how many items were in their cup. It was a great time. Everyone enjoyed guessing and filling the cup back up over and over again. It even became a game for some.
